COMPULSORY APPLICATION IN PERSON FOR VISAS

- On the 15/07/2009, the Consulate-General of France in Sydney introduced biometric visas.

- This procedure is compulsory for every single visa applicant aged 6 years and over.

- All applications have to be lodged in person by making a compulsory appointment via our website, with no exceptions.

- As the process requires taking the photo and the ten fingerprints of each applicant, it is no longer possible to lodge an application by post.

This rule does not apply to visa for African countries represented by this Consulat General. In this case, and in this case only, applications can still be sent by mail or via courrier agencies



LATEST UPDATES :


- Since the 28/05/2009, the following countries do not require a visa to visit the Schengen States for tourist or business purposes :


Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Mauritius, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Seychelles.

- Since the 14/08/2009, citizens from the Republic of Congo, Mauritania and Peru require an airport transit visa to transit through a French airport. Please check our website regarding application procedure.

- From the 19/12/2009, citizens from Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, holding the new biometric passport (red one), do not require a tourist visa to visit the Schengen States, for stays up to 90 days. This exemption does not apply to old type of passports and the "Koordinaciona Uprava" document.

Visa Section telephone numbers are not available to the public.
Visa applicants should not attempt to use the emergency telephone numbers of the French Embassy or of the French Consulate-General. Duty officers are not able to assist.
