Who needs a long stay visa for France ?

Visa exemption for a Long stay visas (> 90 days) in France’s territory in Europe applies to citizen of:



- Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA)

- Andorra

- Monaco

- Switzerland

Australian citizen



- Australian citizen need a visa to enter France and its territories, including New Caledonia or Tahiti, for a long stay (more than 90 days).

- In that case, you are required to secure a long stay visa in Sydney prior to your departure.

It is important to take into account that it won’t be possible to apply for a long stay visa once in France, nor it is possible to change the status of the current visa (for example, from a working holiday visa, visitor visa to a student or resident visa or any other category).

Other nationalities



- If you plan to stay in France or its territories, including New Caledonia or Tahiti for more than 90 days, you are required to secure a long stay visa in Sydney prior to your departure.
