Talks between the President of the Republic and Kevin Rudd [fr]
MEDIA RELEASE - Paris, 24 July 2013
The President of the Republic spoke this morning with the Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd. He assured his interlocutor of his particular attention in pushing further the bilateral relations which was strengthened with the signature of a strategic partnership in 2012.
He wished the continued close cooperation within the UN Security Council to which Australia is a non- permanent member for two years, and with the perspective of the G20’s Australian presidency which will start on December 1st, 2013. François Hollande will hold a one-to-one meeting with the Prime Minister on the sideline of the summit in St Petersburg.
Regarding the tragedy that are facing many refugees around the world, the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister have decided to work closely together. The President of the Republic reiterates his full and unreserved support to the United Nations Convention relating to the status of Refugees.
