Book launch : ‘French Designs on Colonial New South Wales’ [fr]
On the 8th of April at the State Library of Suth Australia, H. E. Stéphane Romatet, Ambassador of France to Australia, officially launched François Péron’s book, ‘French Designs on Colonial New South Wales’ translated by Jean Fornasiero and John West-Scooby.
François Péron was the original author of the Mémoire of which the book ‘French Designs on Colonial New South Wales’ is a translation enriched with notes and documents. This memoir was intended to inform Napoleon that it would be easy to invade New South Wales and make the British colony a French possession.
The launch took place in the presence of the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency Rear-Admiral Kevin Scarce and Alan Smith, director of the State Library of South Australia.
